Il 23/01/2001 Daniele Vannozzi spiegava che "dal DB di RIPE
verranno cancellati nelle prossime settimane tutti i domini registrati
nel TLD .it".
a domini registrati e/o modificati fino a dicembre 2000.

Piero Serini
On Jan the 23rd, 2001 Daniele Vannozzi explained that "in the next weeks
all
domain names registered under the TLD .IT will be removed from RIPE
database" (translation is mine, not Daniele's :)
To date, this dind't happen.
Actually, IT-NIC doesn't send any update for domain names under the TLD .IT
any more, but old data hasn't been removed from it. The bas news is that old
records in the RIPE db are still mnt-by: IT-NIC, and thus cannot be
changed.
Queries from the RIPE db still routinely find entries for .IT domains, and
not
via the distributed system, but carrying old data. This causes spreading of
out-
of-date, often wrong informations, regarding domain names registered and/or
modified up to december 2000.
An example:
$ whois -h whois.ripe.net esi.it

Now, I don't know who's in charge of such a change, but maybe the fastest
way is that IT-NIC asks RIPE to remove such records.
