First release of Sunrise domain names on June 7 at 11:00
On June 7 at 11:00, Belgian Local time, the first set of domain names that
were applied for during Sunrise, but for which the applications were rejected
or expired, will be made available for registration again.
The list of all the domain names that will be released on this date will be
published on EURid website 2 weeks in advance, on May 24. By making the
list of released names public beforehand EURid gives any interested parties
a fair chance to register them.
It has been suggested that by publishing a list we are helping the cyber
squatters. We believe that these people are well aware of the releases
anyway by studying the WHOIS database. By publishing a list, EURid wants
to give everybody, including those parties who applied for names during
Sunrise, a chance to see when the names will become available again. It
also allows EURid to be transparent in what is happening with the Sunrise
domain names.
EURid will release more domain names that were unsuccessfully applied
for in Sunrise at regular intervals (depending on their expiration or rejection
dates) until all are made available.

Abuse prevention system will be in place for the release of Sunrise names
To avoid abuse when EURid releases the names that were not successfully
registered during Sunrise an abuse prevention system will be in place.
The system will be implemented from a few days before the list of names
that will become available is published.
Each registrar can only try to register any name once. After a second
attempt that registrar is blocked from registering that particular name again
and is awarded 1 global hit point. After having collected 50 points (this
number may change. The definite number will be announced on the
registrar site, registry.eu) the registrar is blocked from accessing the
registration system for 24 hours. All counters will be cleared once a day
during the night. The purpose is to avoid registrars bombarding the system
with registration attempts long before the names are released. The security
precautions that were used during the previous launches with a limit of one
connection attempt per second per IP address and only one parallel
connection etcetera will also apply for the release of Sunrise names. This is
necessary to guarantee fair use and the “first come, first served” principle.
