California and Brazil, which demonstrated the critical need for

steel-core cable used throughout the electrical power grid. It is the
only cost effective way for utility companies to satisfy the rapid
increase in demand for electricity delivery. By re-wiring existing tower
systems, power companies can save significant money and time, rather
than incurring much higher costs of developing new power-line
rights-of-way that require many years to acquire, permit and build.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">

grants from the US Department of Energy and the California Energy
Commission. The non-conductive core eliminates inductive heating and
electromagnetic fields produced by steel-cores, with bench tests
indicating 7-10% less energy line-loss than conventional cable. The
composite core is made from continuous glass fibers and specific polymer
resins and is 75% lighter, 25% stronger, and has half the thermal
expansion property of steel-core cables, resulting in less line sag with
a higher power capacity. <a href="http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=CPTC.OB&d=t">CTPC</a>’s

through optional fiber optic lines within the composite core. <o:p>

$2.6 billion per year, of which over $400 million is the cost of new
cable. The length of distribution lines is approximately 10 times that
of transmission lines, with up to $2 billion in cable cost required per
year. There are several domestic transmission systems that are severely

systems will not only solve the anticipated electricity delivery
problems, but also create an infrastructure that supports the
requirements of a rapidly growing digital economy.<o:p>
